GOALS OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION AT MES

Welcome to our Health and Physical Education website.  We are so glad you have taken the time to visit and check out all we have to offer here.  At MES our main goal for your children as they go through our program, is that they develop something called Physical Literacy.  To get more information on what Physical Literacy is, please check out the video below:

The cool thing about Physical Education is that it's not just for the athletes or the stronger more athletic kids, it's for everyone.  We have designed this program to be as inclusive and as differentiated as possible, giving students of ALL ability levels a chance to be successful and feel that sense of pride in themselves for completing a task or learning/improving on a new skill.

We also really stress the importance of social and emotional learning, and developing those important life skills that don't just apply to sports.  These are life skills that students can draw on forever, and that's what we foster here.

Physical Education isn't just important for health reasons.  It's also shown to be extremely vital in improving student's academic performance, emotional well-being, and developing skills in goal-setting, teamwork, perseverance, self-confidence, and sportsmanship.  It is our intent that when your child leaves our gym, they love being active, they love physical activity, and they have the confidence to go out and try new things and play new sports, or learn new skills.  And of course, we want them to have a ton of fun along the way!

We only see the kids for as little as 45-minutes a week depending on how the 6-day specials rotation works (will typically see them twice a week).  Having said that, it is vital that students stay active at home.  Parents, we need your help with this.  Please encourage your kids to stay active for at least 60-minutes every day.  Feel free to jump in and participate in physical activities with them.  This will go a long way in encouraging them to stay active and lead that healthy lifestyle for a lifetime and build on their Physical Literacy!
