At-Home Workouts and Resources

We try to update these links as often as possible as we are always finding new and fun activities and technology, so check back every so often to see what's been added!

Skill-Development:
  • Jump Rope: If you have a jump rope, you can review some of the Single Jump Rope Tricks we learned in PE, or if you have a sibling or family member you could even try out some of the Partner Tricks we learned

  • Jump Rope Ninjas:  If you were close to earning the black belt, or if you’d like to test your skills and see how many belts you can earn, click the links below to view the ninja charts from 1st through 5th grade!  Click Here for the Ninja belts!

  • Throwing and Catching:  If you have space in your yard and it’s safe to go outside, try to practice throwing and catching with a family member with a ball or a frisbee

  • Striking a Balloon (awesome activity for K-2nd Grade) 

    • Blow up a balloon and practice striking it with different items in your house (or different body parts)

    • What is the hardest item or body part to control the balloon with?  What’s your record for the most number of hits without moving your feet?

    • Here’s an example of this balloon striking activity

  • Basketball: If you have a basketball or playground ball, practice some of the ball handling drills and challenges that we worked on in PE over the last few weeks

Apps:
  • POLAR GoFit:  This app is more geared for the 3rd-5th grades as this is the site they will go to to track their fitness progress for the days we use the POLAR Heart Rate Monitors in class.  Each student will have their own personal password, which is assigned on the first day of class.  Save this so you can track their progress throughout the year.  Click Here

  • Homecourt:  Really innovative and intuitive basketball app that helps improve shooting and ball-handling skills.  This is a really cool app I highly recommend it!  Click Here

  • Fitbit: If you have a fitbit fitness tracker, use the app to track your steps! 

  • Stridekick:  Kind of like the fitbit app, but you can create competitions to compete with friends!

  • Map My Walk:  Cool app that lets you track steps with your smartwatch and compete it different competitions.

  • SWORKIT KIDS:  You can do this online, or using their app, but it's a customizable workout app for kids where they just follow along to different exercises for a customized amount of time. Click Here

  • Darebee.com- One-page workouts that a perfect for self-paced and challenging quick workouts.

  • TabataTimer.com-  Use this timer to time your own Tabata workouts at home

  • Fitness Scavenger Hunt: (3rd-5th Grade) (K-2nd Grade)

  • Minute to Win It:  For this one, just keep your scores on your own paper.

  • Escape The Gym: (5th-Grade, 4th-Grade, 3rd-Grade, 2nd-Grade)

  • Ben Pirillo At-Home Activities- PE teacher in Iowa that posted a bunch of fun at-home games for students to participate in during the pandemic.  These are great activities to work on the skills we would normally be practicing in PE, but also can be used as supplemental work to continue to practice and stay active at home.  Click Here

  • Monthly Fitness Challenges:  Every month, we challenge the students to a themed fitness challenge.  It changes month-to-month, and is a great way to include the whole family for a daily exercise boost!  CLICK HERE to access the challenges for this school year.
